AVX Pro P-1A — Passive Tube Program Equalizer AVX Pro P-1A brings the sound of the legendary 1950s passive program equalizers to your DAW. Instead of using generic digital filters, it models the real circuit: a passive inductor and capacitor network, a triode tube make-up gain stage, and the input and output transformers. The P-1A responds like the hardware, with broad musical curves, smooth interaction between controls, and analog warmth that grows as you push it. The famous low-end trick Boost and cut the same low frequency at the same time. The curves interact the way they do on the original circuit: a deep, round bump right below a gentle dip. You get a tight, powerful bottom end without mud, the sound that made this EQ a studio staple on kick, bass and the mix bus. Silky highs Add air and presence with a peaking high boost whose width is set by the Bandwidth control, from sharp to broad. A separate high shelf cut smooths harsh or brittle top end. Real analog character The tube stage and the transformers are modeled as nonlinear circuits, not static saturation. Turn up Input for warm harmonic color and gentle low-frequency transformer saturation, then balance the level with Output. Set them to unity for a clean, transparent EQ.
